Overview Registered Nurse - DialysisFull TimePAM Specialty Hospital of SparksDialysis Nurses are responsible for overseeing dialysis treatments required by patients suffering from acute or chronic kidney failure as ordered by physicians.
Responsibilities o Checking and recording patients' vitals before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
o Primes dialyzer and bloodlines.
o Ensuring that hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments are administered to patients correctly.
o Monitoring patients during dialysis treatment to identify any adverse reactions.
o Oversees the dialysis treatment from start to finish.
o Cannulates accesses and cleans and dresses permanent and temporary catheters.
o Secures, analyzes, and reports lab work.
o Preparing and updating nursing care plans.
o Promptly notifying the appropriate medical practitioner of any problems that occur during dialysis treatments.
o Working with the Dialysis Technicians to ensure that dialysis machines and equipment are set up/cleaned correctly.
o Teaching patients and their family members how to operate home dialysis machines should they decide on home dialysis therapy.
o Educating patients on dialysis treatment options, kidney disease management, as well as suitable nutrition and exercise regimens.
o Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
Qualifications Education and Training:
o State license to practice nursing.
o Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) is preferred but not required.
o Proven experience working as a Dialysis Nurse.
o Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
o Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred but not required.
Experience:
One year dialysis experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and observation skills.
o The ability to operate dialysis machines.
o The ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
o Patient and compassionateSalary:
