The Role Tesla is looking for a Senior Architect to work on large scale ground-up Engineering-Procurement-Construction projects. The product portfolio is expanding with never-built-before production lines and our Architects are expected to have the skills to translate new manufacturing requirements into efficient, code compliant, and aesthetically appealing spaces. In a cross functional organization, our team works side-by-side engineering, construction, and procurement teams to design, and build, the future of Tesla. In this role, you will be asked to be the technical Project Architect for the design and engineering efforts to support construction projects, from concept to start of production. Responsibilities Perform architectural assignments with general direction, no immediate supervision, and work independently as well as collaboratively with others toward design and technical solutions. Manage production of design drawings, presentation drawings, and digital models throughout planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction phases. Research products and materials, review existing projects and those under construction to gather lessons learned and inform the production of design documentation. Contribute to the effective performance of the team regarding quality, schedule, and budget Assist in the development and execution of Alternate Means & Methods of Compliance and Variances with local authorities having jurisdiction Interface with external Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms during bid and construction phases to ensure that designs and specifications meet our Engineering Standards Apply engineering fundamentals and a broad set of architectural design tools to solve technical problems and thoroughly coordinate design with other disciplines Review and develop designs that are cost effective, constructable, code compliant while meeting Tesla's quality and schedule requirements Effectively and proactively communicate project needs, changes, and status to internal and external team members Develop and mentor less experienced engineering staff Assist with development of Scope of Work, Basis of Design, and Estimating documents Implement process improvements, workflows, and templates to increase design productivity Requirements Master's Degree in Architecture, or equivalent Minimum of 10 years Architectural design experience Licensed Architect in state of Nevada, or ability to acquire state license Proficiency in the use of various computer programs such as Revit Architecture, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. Excellent communication skills essential for team-based working Professional design experience in a wide range of project types including manufacturing facilities, utility plants, office, data centers, restaurant, science & tech, and pharmaceutical Knowledge and experience in code analysis and fire life safety compliance Direct experience in the preparation of architectural contract drawings and specifications Experience developing custom details to support unique facility design conditions Construction Administration experience including site observation visits and review of RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings Ability to create site & building renderings for concept evaluations and executive level presentations Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:
